Life Is An Illusion, Now What? (Silent Transmissions: Issue #11)

Is life an illusion? Some kind of hyperrealistic dream?

Yes. But so what? I often see this topic come up in new age and scientific circles and I can detect a dizzying confusion; sometimes the attitude around it is fearful, sometimes nihilistic, sometimes optimistic, sometimes escapist.

At the moment, the scientifically minded say that existence could be some kind of holographic projection or a highly complex computer program that’s being run by some sort of cosmic artificial intelligence.

The spiritually minded crowd tends to agree with the idea that the world is a projection of our consciousness – mainly because it’s in alignment with the popular belief that you create your own reality… which in my own experience is not too far off from the truth (but still falls short of the whole picture). In my own experience, I’ve realized that life truly is a projection of our own consciousness, however, (and this is an important however), it’s NOT through the supposed power of an individual ego-mind.

Have you ever watched the body language of someone who is very attached to the belief that they create their own reality? Have you ever noticed how they seem to derive a sense of identity and security from that belief? How their ego seems to be strengthened by the apparent evidence they have that proves they control reality? Have you noticed how you feel like you’re some kind of manifesting failure because you can’t even seem to manifest a parking spot at the mall on a Tuesday morning? That not only should you have already manifested 3 mansions, 7 cars and a fat bank account by now, but that you’ve chosen to go in the complete opposite direction by manifesting precisely what you don’t want?

Talk about a double whammy.

Fortunately, you haven’t failed as much as you might think you have, because the create-your-own-reality folks haven’t succeeded as much as they think they have.

The psychic knot, the contraction of consciousness that we call the ego has to hide out somewhere until it comes undone. And what better place to hide out than in a Harry Potter state of mind where it seems like you’ve unlocked the secrets of the universe and are now having existence obey your every command? Moo haha.

A human being taking credit for what manifests in a dream is no different than a character in a movie taking credit for what happens in the next scene of that movie. In spite of appearances, the character’s choices and intentions obviously didn’t originate in themselves, they originated in the screenwriter.

While the world is indeed a projection of our consciousness, who or what plants the seed that becomes our intention to project? If all of existence is an elaborate dream and we are characters dreaming within that dream, then who or what is the original dreamer that dreams us dreamers into being?

I’m not really asking you to come up with an answer to that question, because it’s not gonna happen anyway. When it comes to the mind’s capabilities, this is the end of the road. Nevertheless, asking the question helps draw the mind into humility; into silence; a silence that will eventually show you where to find the answer.

This silent humility is something the create-your-own-reality folks could probably benefit from experimenting with a bit more.

After all, if consciously creating your reality is supposed to represent the peak of human evolution (enlightenment), then why haven’t the enlightened human beings we’ve praised over millennia given a rat’s ass about it? Why have these beings placed more emphasis on acceptance, passivity and non-attachment than on manifesting what they want?

Because enlightenment (and this human journey), has nothing to do with attaining a coveted state of consciousness where you suddenly attract all of the riches you could possibly imagine, it’s about realizing that this dream is not ultimate reality and that freedom is in no longer needing to find fulfillment in what’s not real. It’s literally that character in the movie realizing that it’s a character in a movie and that nothing else needs to happen anymore; that they’re simply free to enjoy the rest of the movie from the best seat in the house.

Let the scientists think that life is fake.

Let the spiritual folks manifest their gold trophies.

You… just stay where you are. Do nothing else. Then, eventually you’ll see. Everything is being done for you.

Isn’t that amazing?

Why have these beings placed more emphasis on acceptance, passivity and non-attachment than on manifesting what they want?

You’re so welcome Kay- when you point out what sticks it reminds me of those moments during the writing process when life nudges me to include a specific point even if it seems like it will send me off on a tangent 😉🤪❤️

Manifesting my own destiny…. it worked for a while, at least I kept trying to convince myself of that, but then why was I so exhausted all the time? Why was there always so much drama? That’s what I asked the Universe and it responded fairly quickly by beginning to take it all away–piece by piece and bit by bit until I realized I had no control of anything! And gradually, I now can see and feel its freedom underneath as I subtly but continually forget about “me” even as these tiny things called tears fall to my cheeks!
Thank you for all your continual reminders and gentle encouragements along the way, Kyle.
    Thank you for YOU!

It’s an age old sales pitch from the mind isn’t it? It gets packaged and repackaged over and over again as something ‘different’ but the hallmarks of vanity and striving after wind are always there. ‘Do something, get something, and then you’ll be something’. 😜 And thank YOU too!

Well said Kyle! Still a little manifesting wouldn’t hurt.
